One of my daughters had been begging to learn French for a year, but I'd told her she had to wait until she turned eleven. I'd mulled about buying her Rosetta Stone for her birthday and Christmas combined, but the price was far too high. Anyway, on her birthday we started studying French by finding lessons, songs and clips on Youtube. That went surprisingly well, but was disjointed and took up too much of my time trawling around. Then on Youtube I found the trial version of Ouino and downloaded it. Wow! What a joy it was to the senses. It is a work of art graphically, and the absolutely easiest way to learn French. It's amazing! If you want to learn French I highly recommend you get this program. The five sections in Ouino teach everything in a way that is interesting and very rewarding.In the building blocks section, they made grammar very easy for me to learn, and I thought I was hopeless. They teach with many examples with pictures and the English translation. The vocabulary section contains a very wide variety of words and they're divided by categories. The lessons are very well organized and they offer great exercises to make sure that when you learn something, you remember it. The quizzes are great fun. The verb section is just fabulous. Everything is explained so well, I learned more about conjugation in about 20 mins than I did in a full year in high school. It gives grammar and very extensive vocabulary that enables you to learn at your own pace. You can learn whatever you want whenever you want. It also includes colloquial usages, which is great. I like that they added spoken dialogue and pronunciation practice to the program. Everything you learn is no good if you can't understand it when someone says it to you, and getting the pronunciation correct ensures that you will be understood and shows that you respect the language enough to get it right. The dialogues also give you an idea of how natives speak, rather than only learning the textbook language. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the UI could be better. You have to go the Home page every time you want to go somewhere. There is no way to go back or access the menu from your current location.
